PowerBox Tune for N52?
Not usually a believer of chips for n/a engines but this tuner has posted some decent dynos, with few e90 owners posting good results. Thoughts anyone?

I'm sure it's effective in modifying the throttle pedal sensitivity - much like the Sport button does (or like the Sprint Booster does). The advantage of the PowerBox is that it gives you 4 sensitivity settings instead of just 1 with the Sprint Booster (2 if you count Sport mode if your car is so equipped).
Where I doubt the PowerBox is in its generic "tune" that supposedly works for all N52 motors - but only shows hard dyno data for the 328i (equivalent to the Z4 3.0i). They claim it works just as well on the 330i (or Z4 3.0si), but other software tunes designed for the the 3.0i motor are much less effective on the 3.0si, so I remain unconvinced of the utility of this tune for si motors. Still, even just for the throttle map it might be a decent deal. I just wouldn't expect anything close to the 10hp boost they claim (at least not on a 3.0si). But if you want to buy one and post before and after dynos I'd certainly be interested... |
