DSC BRAKE fault light problem
would like to thank shipkiller on his help posts and others who posted possible fixes. I picked up 2003 Z4 about year ago with 21,000 miles. Needed a few things fixed, third light, brake issue( set too long without use ). Had issue with constant setting of DSC BRAKE fault, replaced brakes, rotors, sensors, still had recurring issues of random setting of fault light.
Help info was posted of trying to remove, clean and re-install the four sensors that check axle rotation ( one sensor on each wheel hub ). These were removed and found to have what looked like small dabs of rubber cement splattered on them, this was removed with electronic sensor spray cleaner, sensors re-installed, fault reset, NO recurring fault light! Issue seems to be fixed! Thanks to all who blogged on this, I think I read every one! |

For what its worth, I had the DCS and break light come on then go off then on. I used my OBD test tool and it turned out to be one of the brake pressure sensors on the booster. All I did was clean them and symptoms went away.

While it is not exactly z4 related, the following post will help a lot regarding the trifecta of DSC, ABS and the Brake light issue
