Question Future Generation Z4M engine?

with the release of the e92 m3 comming out does that mean the future z4m will have a slightly detuned e92 m3 engine in it like it does now with the s54?

how is the M coupe engine detuned from the M3? they both have 333hp

are you thinking of the Z3 M coupe that was at 315 hp, down from 333 due to engine bay restrictions that didn't allow the normal exhaust to fit?

Actually, the M3 has 333 the M Roadster and Coupe have 330, again due to exhaust restrictions

343 is brake hp. 330 vs 333 is crank hp.

Someone will wake you in about 3-4 years.

Have a good nap.

Edit: Actually enfield has been talking up this ESS S/C kit pushing 550 hp coming out next year...

Wrong. 343 is euro SAE net. 338 is euro DIN. 330 is US SAE net. 333 is US SAE net for the E46 M3. Brake HP, crank HP and net HP are interchangeable terms.

Thanks for the clarification...why is it that everytime I see brake HP (usually euro magazines) it lists 343 hp. And most us magazines list 330. I'm guessing that the euro SAE HP calculation is what brake hp is based off of, and the US SAE HP calculation is what is used for us magazines.

I guess if I really wanted to know I could read all this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower ...but I'm feeling a little lazy at the moment

well the m3 s54 is 333hp and z4 m is 330 like you guys said. so the future generation z4m would be based on the e92 m3 which is 420 so we should expect to see 410hp at least on a z4?

i saw the proto for the z9 or was it a new z8?

I don't think the drop off will be that substantial. The Next Gen Z4 is supposed to get a longer wheel base, so that should help reduce the restictions in the exhaust plumbing under the car. I'd probably get 420.

I know... only thing I wanted to say is that M3 and Z4M have the same power in origin.

Thanks! There are several superchargers and turbo units that would work and are available already but...as I said, there is still ECU problems and in getting it tuned!
