US/CAN - Need Input - BMW 100 Year Anniversary Trip/Tour
M3Dragon and I have been discussing what to do for the BMW 100 year anniversary. M3Dragon is the driving force (no pun intended) behind many road trips in NorCal; 1-3 day overnight type trips (Central Coast, North Coast, Eastern Sierra and Yosemite); and epic longer drives like Yellowstone.
So, the question is what to do for the 100 Year Anniversary? We haven't nailed down a date, but August 2016 seems is the tentative month for now. This event would be open to all BMWs of all eras (not a Z4 only event).
So, what do folks think? Any interest in any of these options? Other options, thoughts, or considerations to offer? We're trying to gauge interest and type of interest at this point before planning further. |

I like the idea of the 5-7 day event more. I'm good with any interesting sites to see and roads to drive
How about driving up the pacific coast to Seattle or into Vancouver? We can post destinations at the end of each day so people can meet up with/join us as the event moves along? This way, we may not have to pick such a central start location and still may have a good turnout? Just a thought. Last edited by XMetal; 12-07-2015 at 12:10 AM.. |

Given that Octoberfest is in late August in Monterey, maybe something starting in the middle somewhere and ending up there? Or the other way around, starting in Monterey and heading east-ish. You may get some interest from those farther out who are heading for the festivities.

I think that is referring to this past year's event, and it looks like there's 2015 information mixed in with the 2016 event. In any case the 2016 event looks pretty elaborate and well sponsored. (However lodging in the Monterey region during events in a price-gouger's paradise from past experience with ALMS, etc.). We will have to take this event in to consideration in planning. Thanks for linking to it--I had no idea having dropped my CCA membership awhile back. |

I'm not a current CCA member either. Having that requirement will limit quite a lot from attending it
Guys, reading the original post, this event doesn't have to limit us to California or Western events. If you have any ideas/suggestions on any fun "mini" group vacation road trips/get-togethers that you would like to do, I'm sure it would be very welcome. It can't be just the 3 of us on here that are interested with taking our cars out for a spin and fun? Last edited by XMetal; 12-20-2015 at 01:06 PM.. |

You guys who aren't members should seriously consider joining. I joined when I bought my first (E90 330i back in late '05) and then got the club rebate when I bought my Z4MC 2 years later (think it was $500). Plus, Roundel is worth the cost of membership all by itself. It's a fantastic publication.
