Approx how much does it weigh and how many hours did it take to get it down and out? Might be a good way to do the gear ratio change also. With 120k miles I'm sure mine could use a good rebuild on all the bushings and shafts.

I can pick it up assembled
Guessing 100-120# Out takes an hour. In I would say the same. I can tell you that next weekend. Rear diff is fairly easy with subframe still in place, I have R&R'd 2 diffs that way. Trolley jack helps.

Sounds like a weekend project if I don't paint? I was amazed of the difference after replacing my front bushings so I would like to keep going. Thanks for the reply! |

- Front bumper respray, filled the plate mount holes for a smooth bumper.
- Perforated black leather handbrake (to match the new suede trim). - Replacement panel (the one directly under the handbrake had a chip that always bothered me from the previous owner). - Tow hook, licence plate holder |

You can order these from Bobby Rahal BMW's parts dept, $800 + shipping. I dealt with David Shimkus - dshimkus@bobbyrahalbmw.com I had originally tried to get them through Tischer but they can't get them. Something about 'Motorsport catalog' parts...

Swapped out my carbon fiber wheel for an Alcantera wrap and added an AKG short shifter with an Alcantera boot. The shifter is flawless and works great on the track. I found a guy who can wrap your stock wheel for $225 http://cobywheel.com/ does a great job and is quick on the turnaround.

Do you have any more pics of how you did those rings in the rear bulk head for your harness?

I did order a few things from UCC in the past and never received the items, I left numerous messages, emails and never got a call back. As an alternative my mechanic introduced me to AKG's products and I have been completely satisfied with all their products. The shifter has little to no vibration at high RPMs and the shift is precise and smooth on the track.

In your opinion, did the AKG ssk solve the inherent sloppiness of the stock shifter? Was the throw much shorter? Looking at the length of the shifter I find it hard to imagine it will be... Lastly, is the shift knob removable? |

After I had it installed, I was able to test it at Barber Motorsports Park. The shifts are shorter, more direct and little to no vibrations at high RPMs. I thought it might take a little getting used to the height of the shifter, but on the track it makes a world of difference and worked perfectly.
The shift knob does screw off and you can order it with a DTM shift knob instead of the standard. |

Everybody who tests my shifter says they never felt a shifter so buttery. I have a friend who owns a s2k and a z4m. He hates the Z4m Oem shifter. And said that mine is just as good as s2k. I had autosolutions ssk too. Feels pretty good and it's shorter than akg. But no shifter is as buttery as akg.

Before the winter I swapped the RPi's back to stock mufflers on the roadster (potential buyers were being turned off by the drone). I bought my coupe with Eisenmann Sports that were really great, no drone and not overpowering at any rev range - but with a noticeable rumble in the lower ranges. IMO how the car should have come from the factory.
In saying this, I missed the tone and 'exotic' note of the RPi exhaust so swapped them. Was concerned about added drone as I had heard from other members the coupe resonated much more, but no discernible increase from what I experienced top-up in my roadster so they're staying. I have stock headers/section 1/x-pipe so this helps, but if I ever change these out (catless headers are in the plan) I may change my mind about the mufflers. I also finally got around to installing the complete interior LED lighting kit that I picked up from ECS Tuning late last year for $35. Was hesitant about doing this over the winter when the plastic was cold and brittle but I love how they look. Not much brighter than factory but I like the way the white LED suits the car over the stock amber glow. The factory lighting suit my roadster better though.

Just ordered a new set of Falken 453s for the rear. Running 3 degrees of negative camber last summer has unfortunately cause a lot of premature wear ...also ordering camber arms to suit.
