About a month after I had bought my Z, I completed this e-z retrofit as well. I also installed storage boxes under each of the seats...They're great for storing small miscellaneous car items...Hmmmm, I can't remember what I placed inside them...

this is going to sound like a silly question. but how do you guys screw these in? such a tough angle.

also, i ordered online from tischer and did not receive and screws or anything to install this. can anyone tell me exactly what screw I need so i can go to home depot and pick it up?

I used a socket/socket wrench. Look at the first post by JMILLET on this thread for details about bolts to buy (and not to buy )

Applied the sticky backed felt to the bottom, sides, and back of the box. It takes one 9"X12" sheet per box at $1.50 per sheet.
Things should stay nice and quiet now with nothing rattling around in the box.
I got mine from Tischer in MD, but had to pay tax since I live there, but picked them up locally, so didn't have to pay for shipping.

These boxes are pretty cheap thin plastic, which is fine to hold a first aid kit, but if you want to use them like a storage box, definitely line them with felt. I did this last year after buying 2 boxes for passenger and driver seats. I checked out the peel and stick felt at walmart, they had several colors, but it was a little thin. I ended up buying a yard of just regular felt there for about $2 and a can of spray adhesive. The felt by the yard was much thicker than the peel and stick type.

I cut the felt so one piece went from the top to back to bottom across hinge and onto the front door. Then put a piece on each side. Going across the hinge should add some reliability to the hinge since it's just plastic and not really designed for regular use.

I now have a place for my camera, sunglasses, flashlight, leatherman, CDs and a few other odds and ends. Too bad the owners manual doesn't fit.

I have bought several of their items including this one. Could not be happier with the service or the products. LeatherZ is a supporter of bimmerfest forum if you want more info.

Question Z4 First Aid Box - Can the Seats Still Lower Maximally?

A question for those who have installed the BMW Z4 E85 First Aid Box & Bracket under the seats:

Can the power seats for the driver and passenger still be maximally lowered?

Thanks

Thumbs up First Aid Box Does NOT Effect Seat Travel

I received this email from LeatherZ

"They (Z4 First Aid Boxes)do not impact the travel of the seats.

Resurrecting an old thread...

Been meaning to put this in my car for a couple of weeks. I have the bracket and box from Tischer. Do the holes on the bottom need to be tapped at all? Googling this install and folks on E46s have indicated that the self tapping screws are hard to leverage with how little clearance there is, and that it's quicker just to get a tap. Not sure if that's still the case on our cars.

I didn't have any problems installing them on the M seats of my si coupe a couple of years ago; haven't gotten around to getting them for the M yet.

Just installed this tonight. Used 3x 1/2" long 1/4"-20 self-tapping screws. No big deal at all. I even managed to install the back one.

Now I have 22 extra screws....
