Service on 2008 Z4 3.0si today

How'd I do?

First time BMW owner (actually my wife's) bought used Z4 a few months ago.

Took it to a local BMW/Mercedes Benz/Audi non-dealer service provider for an oil change at 42k miles (all prior service was completed far as I know).

They inspected the car - all seems well. 4mm left on brake pads, third brake light lens is starting to crack (which I read on this blog happens often) and that's about all their comments.

They changed the oil and filter, then added w/s concentrate (not sure what that is, something they topped off - washer fluid maybe) and then added cleaner-fuel system. Wife said the roadster takes off better!

Total damages was $192.99.

Oh I mentioned to my wife, make sure they check the to see if the valves need adjustment - the mechanic advised only the Z4 M model requires valve adjustments (didn't know that). So other than that incorrect info I armed my wife with - did I do okay with this service call?

This here tells me they know what they talking about.
A more unscrupulous shop may have tried to tell you that you needed valve work seeing as you did not know.

Don't really know about the bill as I do my own maintenance

Seems fair to me. You may be one of the lucky folks who has a good and trustworthy dealer to look after their car!
