Electric water pump questions
Hoping someone has some quick answers to let me know what exactly controls the electric water pump on my 06 Z4 3.0i
Replaced the pump. Cant make it turn on by stepping on gas pedal for 10 seconds while heat and key on. Have power and ground at pigtail on outside terminals. Of the 2 smaller middle wires in the plug, one that goes to thermostat sensor gets power when key comes on. The other little one will turn the pump on if I give it ground. I have had the car fully warmed up and can not get the pump to come on unless I jump ground onto that terminal until I decided to wrap it up for the day and after shutting the car off, it turned on by itself without the jumper. Question 1, Is the pump supposed to pump at all times with the car running or just over a certain temp? I can make this happen if the pump will withstand constant run. Question 2 My ambient air temp sensor is messed up and the dash says its -40. Could this affect the pump circuit? Question 3 What exactly are the 2 center wire controlled from? Question 4 Is this supposed to turn on and circulate after engine is off? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer? |
