When you replaced the BA9S with LED, did it the on-board give out any burn out bulb warning? If so, did you u a load equal. to 'correct' that? I am thinking to replace the bulb with some PIAA LEDs if it is just a simple swap. http://www.priracing.com/product.php...w-6500k--pair- http://www.car-gym.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id=1322 Thanks a lot! i-SpY Last edited by iSpY; 09-03-2008 at 01:59 AM.. |

I did get a bulb out warning and I did not fix it because I changed out the BA9S LED right after. It was dimmer then stock and if you get an LED that's "hyper white // HID white" your rings will ended up on the bluer side because the ring itself is tinted blue so with the stock halogen bulb its not as yellow. From my research a simple BA9S led swap wont be enough. I've tried two high power surface mount LEDs which works for the E90 OEM angel eyes and even that was close to stock brightness but a little dimmer, again with the blue ring. I've heard people changing their stock 12v 10w ba9s to a 12v 21w ba9s to get a brighter ring but I dont know if there are any side effects to that. Hope this info helps, it's what I've gathered so far.

Thanks a lot for the info.
I am looking for a simple and easy upgrade for the 'ring' and I guess the LED is no long an option. I've also searched other 'blue tint' bulbs (see the links below) to try to change the color but they are all 8W, lower than the stock 10W so the brightness may suffer. Ideally, I would like to have something in 12 to 15W range. Don't want to go to high since the DRL is on ALL the time and I don't want to take the risk for melting something. http://www.priracing.com/product.php...e--bulb--pair- http://www.optionimports.com/kpolm26.html i-SpY |

To tell you the truth I dont think either of those will work. 8W - blue glass shielding = much less output then the stock 10w clear bulb. If you wanted something with blue glass (more white light) then it'd have to be at least double the wattage of the stock bulb. If someone is on Z4-Coupe Addicts and can get in touch with Luminor and see how his 21W bulbs are going since its been a few months that'd be great.

necrobumping for sure.
anyone ever upgrade with the WeissLicht option? only finding reference to the CCFL Tekarbon has done. drivers side looks doable, but the passenger side looks like it might be impossible to access. http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/Z-Se...duct_info.html |
