MP3's and the Z4

Hey

Does anyone know whether 05 Z4 can play MP3's? Frankly I don't have any MP3 CD on me and I don't know.

Which models had retractable outside mirrors? Or was it also an option in an 05?

How expensive and difficult it is to fit standard BMW CD changer into the Z4?

I know I haven't posted pics of my car yet but will do tomorrow def. It's going to service tomorrow so I will snap few before hand.

I'm actually thinking about either retrofitting the NAV system or the CD changer first.

Thanks for help!

-Paul

1) Not sure on your specific car but mine plays MP3 CDs just fine.

2) I'm guessing you mean automatic folding mirrors, these are not available on any US spec Z4s

3) I believe most BMW have the CD Changer in the trunk, if this is the case it shouldn't be too hard as most BMWs are also pre-wired for CD Changer if it was not an option on your car

4) Retrofitting the NAV system will be MUCH more difficult and probably very costly. The OE NAV system comes out of the dash board so you'd have to remove it, cut to fit the unit and allow it to open up, etc. Google a picture of the Z4 NAV and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks man! Regarding the NAV, I know what you mean. I got the whole thing for 900 dollars. I think the most precise part of the whole thing will be cutting the dashboard. I'm also kinda scared running the wire to the storage compartment between the seats for the DVD. We'll see anyways :P Now, I just wanna put black kidney grilles, AC Schnitzer pedals and little 8inch antenna Just a little stuff before we go big with NAV and the quad exhaust.

yes i have a 05, and it plays mp3 cds

and all US spec z4s are prewired for a cd changer, i don't even have the premium pkg but the wires were all there for the DICE install.

And one more question. What about the first aid kit. Did u guys have it. It should be under the passenger seat I think. Mine didn't have it and dealer told me that its not there because its a us spec car.

That's correct. You can buy the underseat box and the FA kit from LeatherZ. I bought two of the boxes and use them for cockpit storage. I keep the OEM European FA kit in the trunk.

My car is in service right now and they're taking a good care of it Now I'm driving a 2009 BMW 528i loaner which is nice but a bit boaty and the new joystick gear lever is nice looking but kinda lagging at times.

Also, when I asked about bumping up the horsepower to get better 0-60 times, someone told me to rather slap on new dif with 3.46Final or something rather than ECU upgrade. Is that true?

AND - Would that do the trick? http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/pts/975479355.html
