Anyone in Southern Ont have a Motive Bleeder?

Looking to borrow one this weekend to bleed brakes/CDV delete. I can't seem to find anywhere to buy one around here.

I like Motul.

IIRC there are a couple of discussions on the topic in here somewhere.

There's a couple of places in Vaughan/Woodbridge that sell the Motul RBF600. I have 1.5L in the garage if you're in a pinch.

Ecstuning also carries motul if you don't need it right away. I'm using rbf600 with my stoptech kit this upcoming season

Yeah, precision is where I was going to get the Super Blue tomorrow.

So, do you guys all use the Motul? Its strange because every search I have found references the Super Blue. Why do you guys like the Motul better? I just noticed its a racing brake fluid. For the non racer like me, is it worth the extra money?

I used to use the ATE. The colour never truly gets out of the system. I believe the boiling point is higher in the Motul and they're about the same cost. While you're there pick up a couple of bottles of Royal Purple Synchromax. You'll need to order a couple of replacement plugs from BMW.

I'm, going to use the BMW fluid for the diff with the friction modifier. I feel more comfortable sticking with OEM fluid for gears. I do have some diff whine so know it needs the modifier.

OK, you sold me on the Motul, as long as I can get a decent price on it at Paragon. Precision wants $27 per 500ml while the ATE is $20 for 1L.

Cheers

The Synchromax Caddy recommended is for the trany.
Many of us found a significant shifting improvement with it.

I agree OE fluid for diff.

Yup.

Ian and I get the Motul through TMS. They ship USPS.

Alright, I will pick up some Syncromax...sounds like a good idea.

I was at Paragon Competition today. If you guys haven't dealt with Joe before, I would highly recommend them. He spent a good half hour helping me out and giving his advice on things. He is a racer and travels a lot doing OEM stuff for dealerships. Turns out they are the Motul importer in Canada. A really great guy!

So, on his advice (and he did stock the ATE Blue as well as all the Motuls), I went with the Motul 5.1. His take was that unless you are doing heavy duty racing, the 600 and 660 are overkill and more than twice the price. He gave me a lot of great reasons why the 5.1 is the right choice for me.

I also picked up the Motive Bleeder (got a good price on it), some Zymil leather conditioner, and some Motul Diff fluid.

We talked for a while about the diff fluid and he indicated that he had the Motul Hypo Synt LS 75W-140 in stock. It is the stuff with the friction modifier and is approved by BMW. The best part, about 1/3 the price. The only downside, he only had it in a 5L jug, so, I have some extra. If anyone wants 1.5L for a diff fluid change, I will sell you some of what I have. 1.5L for $50...a far cry from even Tischer's price on the OEM stuff of $45 per half litre!

Let me know if you're interested and want to drop by Waterloo with a couple of empty bottles in the next while. I am going to post this seperately as well.

Not certain...I know he said that he supplied a couple of BMW dealerships with drums of the Motul...maybe I read into it. He threw a lot of info at me, its possible I assumed he said it was the same as the OEM stuff. I do know the literature (the link I posted) indicates it was manufactured for BMW and the label indicates the same.

You never know - Castrol does list it in their website however.

On the tranny fluid change...do I need new plugs for it like I do for the diff or are there washers to replace? Don't see washers on realoem. If not, did you guys silicone the plugs or what?

Also, how did you get the fluid in? I understand its in an awkward spot. Was thinking tubing and a funnel from up top.

Thanks

I have a pressure gun for loading the trany.
You can also get the tube adapter for the bottle & just squeeze fill.
(I think it has a check valve in the adapter)

Yes you need new plugs.

Thanks Ian. Can you tell me what kind of a pressure gun you mean? Or, when you say tube adapter, what do you mean there? Just some tubing connected to the top of the RP bottle?

Last question...does the tranny and diff need to be at operating temp or is it OK to change these fluids cold?

Like this at CDN tire....

They also have bottle adapters, but I never had very good luck with them.

I change mine cold.
