Not Jim's highly modified Coupe. This one belongs to Behan.

Take care not to needlessly radiate the inside of your car with Bluetooth crap: some people are sensitive to electro signals (I am one of them) ... in any event, music over Bluetooth is low resolution compressed streaming - about the lowest quality you can get ... you are much better with CD resolution (441.KHz 16 bit) ... streaming audio is so lossy it has about 80% of the musical content deleted (lost) from the original.

Watched the video, and listened to a couple of related and similar podcasts.

My formulated opinion (as a regular Z4 owner):

The Z4M was a great base of a car to build on. Different enough in looks to appeal to a unique crowd. Built well to not have any substantial problems. But this car was built a specific way, modified to suit a certain driver. There's nothing to say another car (like an E36 M3) couldn't be setup similarly.

My conclusion is that by tastefully modifying a relatively small (2 door, RWD, <3,250lbs) car to the range of 300 - 400hp with modest suspension changes, good brakes/pads and good rubber is going to be the winner. The only way the 10 year old marker comes into play is that the depreciation has generally brought the Z4M (which meets the other qualifications) to a price less than $25k.

It's the all rounder with good feel, usable on the street or track comfortably for the right price. It's a winning formula.

...

The only thing I feel I'm missing in comparison is the stiffness of the coupe body (but I like a drop top) and the feel of the hydraulic steering.

The rest is easy modification to suit your tastes
