So this light came on..... Help needed ASAP

So I took the car to a body shop after getting in to a wreck. The cat was fine and when I got the car back it had this light



I told them to fix it but they are taking to long and I wanted to try getting it fixed myself. Now just to let you know my radiator hose had a leak and I'm in the process of fixing it. Now that might be the problem how ever when I was replacing the hose I noticed these two things dangling.



Anyone have any idea where they go and if possible that could also be giving me a problem?

Please help.

My guess is they're some sort of crash sensor perhaps? Those would most likely not have anything to do with the coolant light coming on.

If that light is coming on you probably need to revamp your cooling system. Was the radiator damaged in the wreck? IF you had a leaking hose, that would definitely cause that light to come on.

Everything was fine. It seemed like they had unplugged some thing.

The light is triggered by a low coolant level. I thought crash sensors and/or airbag sensors and associated wiring were typically yellow.

You mean the coolant light? Yes it's yellow.

no I think he meant that all components and wiring that relate to the airbag and crash sensors are actually coloured yellow

Good point. While the wires aren't necessarily yellow in color, they almost always have some sort of yellow insulation if it's somehow related to the airbags.

So any one have an idea where those plugs go or can someone check for me. Fixed the leak problem but the coolant light is still there. Does anyone know if it has to be reset for the light to go off?

Mine was low on coolant recently and the light was on. I added coolant and the light went off - no additional reset required.

I'm winging it here, but isn't the coolant level sensor attached to the coolant reservoir? Check and see if you find any loose or unplugged connections around the sides/back of the coolant tank.

Checked it. I know that there is one under it. I'm not sure if there are any others around it.

Look at the length of the wire on the left. It can't be more than 6 inches long. Look for something to plug it into in a 6 inch radius.

The coolant light should go off on its own if everything is ok. Are you sure the leak was fixed and you have enough coolant? Did you bleed the system?

What's the manual say about the coolant light?

Looked and can't find anything that they plug in 2.

As far as the coolant, yes it's full and bleed. Light was on even before the leak.

Guess if anyone takes off their bumper if they can check for me and possible take picture.

Find a good indie BMW shop and have them sort it.

I think we've given all the ideas you're going to find here. There may be several separate issues: the sensors, the cooling system, maybe something else. You need a professional.

Took a peek on RealOEM but didn't see anything similar. What do they plug into (what looks to be a small black wire bundle coming out the back of the white plug)? Are the two holes in each block actually ports or receptacles or through holes for mounting? On a side note, you may get more responses if you weren't throwing gang signs in your pic.

The bolts go up through the sensors from the bottom and into the bosses in the black sheet metal where marked below.
