PSA: Corrosion Warranty (rust). Be sure to check this area.

My 2007 M Coupe has a little bit of rust where the front bumper cover meets the hood, right under the shut line. This is not the front bumper cover itself, but a long metal piece that's part of its mounting system.

I showed this to my local dealer, who in turn showed it to the BMW area representative, and they approved replacing this under the original 12 year corrosion warranty. This metal piece and the one underneath it are being replaced by the dealer. The front bumper cover is not being replaced, however.

Just FYI. Check your car to see if any rust is present. If it is, might be worth paying a visit to your dealer for inspection and warranty repair.

Could you post a second photo further back so you can get a better perspective? I know what you are picturing, but the description is a bit confusing.

Thanks! I can't believe any metal part on a Z4 is under 20 bucks..... Looks like an easy DIY.

Super easy. The dealer changed out the "supporting ledge" and the rubber seal. Free, of course.
