Android Dash unit

So have anyone seen one of these units in person or added it to their E85. They look impressive but I would have to cut my dash as my Zed did not come with GPS and they are from China which is also concerning. damn it I want one...

Pioneer released a single-din Apple Carplay / Android Auto receiver with a flip out screen. It would be less invasive to use that than to cut out your dash to mount a screen like the one you linked.

Yep: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130330...xoCFcAQAvD_BwE

For 600 bucks and no messing up the dash, this is the way to go. I just upgraded my 11 Taco to a Sony Double Din AA unit and am loving it. It keeps the car current.

I've been holding off on getting one because then I'd have two screens in my car.

This is great! They have a model for 1er that should need only slight modifications to fit E83/5/6. I'm sure it'll sell enough units to justify their incremental development costs. Group buy?

This is a perfect square and my stereo unit isn't in my E85 roadster. Is there a mount to make up the remaining space?

Yep. Check crutchfield for car installation kits. There's a mount for the Z4.

Metra 99-9303 BMW Kit

Looks kind of 'meh' IMO but at least it would fill the gaps on either side of a standard single din head unit.

After looking at it some more I'm not interested anymore. I like my classic business radio look and don't need all the technology in the Z. I have my DD with the fancy stuff already. I think im just going to mount an old phone so i can have access to streaming music and maybe navigation.

Yep - agreed. The Dynavin units mentioned above are the only ones I've seen that maintained the right look.

I like the pure classic look of the Zed without all the techno junk that dates. And I hate having wi-fi / Bluetooth crap radiating me in the car.
