I disagree on the LED/HID - I converted my explorer with projector housings to HID a few years back and they were great. I lost a bulb and went to the highest output LED I could find and while they are fine and better than stock, they do not reach nearly as far as the HID's did. LED still has a nice white look, the instant on is nice and the conversion is MUCH easier than halogen to HID - but the light is not better.

I have a factory Xenon Z4. I changed the bulbs to a 6000K (very white) and felt the lighting got better that stock. Then I changed the fogs to a HID kit and leveled them down a shade - what a GREAT combo that was. Lights on low and the fogs on has a excellent blanket of white in front of the car and I never get blinked at. I also dialed in and changed my fogs to be able to be on with the bright lights and man - what a combo. Dark back roads are like daylight.

First time in my life I think I can say I am perfectly happy with the lighting of a car I own and would not change a thing.

Probably the placebo effect since the stock color Xenon bulbs produce the most light output out of all the different kelvin colors. The 6000k probably outputs a pretty blue light though... Maybe your old bulbs were on their way out

Blue is "cool", but not so good for the seein'.
I have the 85122 CM (Color Match), which are 5000K.
I think they're a good compromise. Very white, but I can still see where I'm going.
Well, I will once I replace my Sun frazzed Headlight Armor.

I miss the 50W PIAAs I had on my MR2, but my car's not quite beat enough yet to go all Mad Max on it with a bank of off road lights.

Actually mine were advertised a "diamond white" and are true to that description. They have absolutely no hint of blue at all and are as white as I can imagine them being. Since my factory bulbs were 10 years old - that was my assumption too - they had just lost a little of their mojo and the new ones just burned a little brighter. My factory (which I assume were 4300 like most) were not that pure white - they had a shade of the hologen "yellow" in them I never cared for. Maybe mine advertised as 6000 are not true 6000 - but they are pure white and I see no blue at all. I hate that blue cast shown in the picture above and glad mine have none of that. I would have replaced them if that had. If I had a camera that would capture color that well I would snap a pic, but I don't.
