wiper mechanism makes 'clicking' noise
Very audible, sounds like a relay clicking. Happens when the wipers move up and then back at rest....very annoying. Soun is coming from the fuse box area/glove box which makes me think it is a relay?

I dont drive in the rain... never noticed it
if its bothersome; locate the relay and stick some foam tape on it to deaden the sound.

I figured it was normal operation and you cant hear it over the music. Having said that, why would BMW allow this in the first place? It is a very annoying click and just not expecting anyone within the engineering team to find it tolerable or acceptable. I've driven the car in the rain a lot and I just started to notice it....cant wait to get my e30 back in operation

I suspect its a bad relay. I started noticing that (rather abruptly) about 3 months ago, I don't think it was that loud before. When I get around to it, I was going to replace that relay and see if it gets quieter.

Its definitley the relay, it comes from the fusebox area and it only happens once when the wiper starts moving. If the wiper stays on, no more clicking until it stops and starts again.

Did you buy and install a new relay? I'm still curious about this

Also, I get the same noise when I move my windows up and down. I wonder if they're working off the same relay, or if I have multiple failing relays?

I don't know if it is related or another relay, but I'm not sure if the link is saying replacing fuses is a pain or removing the fuse box is a pain! I removed the fuse for the headlight washers and it is very easy to get to the fuses....are the relays behind? I need to take a look and see what is actually making the ticking while the wipers are engaged.
