Unplug ECU?

Greeting internet people!

I got a pair of euro headers installed over the weekend and now I need to relocate the O2 and EGT sensors. From what I understand I need to trace the wires back from engine compartment to the ECU, unloom the wires and reroute the wires straight down and back to the secondary cats. So far so good?

I opened up the ECU and I ran into a clusterf** of wires in there. How did you folks manage to unloom this? can I start unplugging things after labling them to get them out of the way and unloom then? Can I unplug the ECU (after disconnecting the battery)? would that cause any unwanted behaviors?

Need your help! Thanks as always

should be fine just treat your o2 senors carefully. My logic would be turn off the car. then disconect battery then go forit all

It is my understanding that youre not opening the ecu box, ure taking the slack from under the valve cover, where they run along a plastic rail

Just did mine, just the loom on the top of the engine and under the valve cover needs to be rerouted.

You two are awesome! So I dont open up the ECU box? I just reroute the existing wire in the bay back to ECU and then straight down and across to cats.

Like people are saying you don't need THAT much slack. Don't get into the ECU. Actually, I think we have a DME. Anyway, take out the slack under the valve cover plastic lid and maybe a little more from the wire loom going towards the DME. That should be enough. I haven't done my z4m but I did it on the e46m3. I need to do it! Just need the time.

What they said ^. You just need to undo the loom under the plastic valve cover + a few inches. I re-wrapped mine with tape and conduit.
