Finally pulled the trigger

and bought this today: http://www.winslowbmw.com/used/BMW/2...cdd9e7de58.htm

For now, keeping the fingers crossed that there won't be any surprised when I receive the car. Does anyone know the car or former owner(s)?

Edit: Also, for initial inspections what are the main issues to check for? I am not yet sure whether I should have the car inspected in CO, or wait 'til I have receive it in MA and have it checked by my local indy (solid guy) in Boston.

Thanks! I will add those two to the list. Frankly these up front issues scare me more than long-term maintenance!

I live in NYC most of the year but my permanent address is in Natick

Never heard this before... Power steering hose - yes! Mine has been lucky so far. Good luck with the new car! Mine is very similar sans Nav and the hard top.

Congrats. Small world. I just purchased a 2008 Z4M imola red roadster and live in Sudbury. No hardtop though, which is a cool option. I would check out the convertible top motor, which was just replaced on my vehicle before I purchased it.

Thank you guys! The hardtop was a big factor in picking this over the other one I was considering. I just couldn't pass up on a low mileage specimen with the hardtop for $24K.

The top motor is a nightmare! I have changed it on my current car twice already. Can't believe BMW failed to address that in e86

Let me know if you see another Imola Z4M like it there!

I think that BMW made some modest improvements in the 2006 and later cars to make the top motor more resistant to water related failure. If you keep your car in a garage nightly and when not used then you should avoid a lot of the gunk (leaves etc) acumulation that clogs the motor drains. I use my car as a fair weather car for the most part so its not usually out in the rain, further lessening the chance of water getting in at the motor. Still, the top motor is an amazingly sensitive set up in this respect, I grant you.

Thanks!

Huz: The other Z4M that I was considering is not imola but also very low mileage (22,300) and seems very clean: http://oysterbaybmw.com/Long-Island/...el=Z4&Make=BMW

They are terrible sales people (feels like they don't want to sell the car) but willing to come down to $25K.

Thanks! If I buy this, the wife will kill me. But she's got to catch me first!

Do it! I have been looking for a couple of months and this is the lowest I have seen a car with this mileage go for. If they were a bit more "customer friendly" I would have bought it myself.

The only issue is that it has an undocumented accident on Carfax, but that can be sorted out with an independent inspection.

Wow! Low miles, great shape, hardtop. You got them down to $24k? Good score. Good luck with it!

Ammar: I couldn't believe it either! These cars shouldn't be so cheap, but I guess works for new buyers like me? I have been following the prices for a while now and clean Z3Ms are in many cases more expensive than similar Z4Ms. I think it's just a matter of timing and we will see these cars appreciate in a few years as well.

Cogriff: Yeah I have been around for a while Congratz for the wee one. You know you just can't go wrong with that name
