Best way to get a Z4M bumper?

Some companies offer the Z4M style bumper but its not the OEM part. Whats the best way to go?

I didn't know there were companies offering Z4M style bumpers. Do you have links to these aftermarket bumpers? Have you seen the OEM aero bumper? To correctly convert to a M bumper requires allot more than just the bumper skin, plus you loose your fog lights. Are you changing your bumper because it's damaged?

The best thing to do is buy new and do it the right way. Google the conversion, because you will need several other parts: lower mesh, under tray, brackets to relocate the horns, brake cooling ducts, and a few others.

I picked my bumper up used from a friend in California and had it shipped via Greyhound.

This one is a kit. I believe it comes with all the parts, but theres no brand, so I'm assuming its BMW.

I was looking into this as well a while back on my '05 3.0i. Never ended up doing it because I had to move and never got around to it. I worked with Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, CA. http://www.stevethomasbmw.com/index.htm My dad was buying a new 328d from them so I walked over to the parts department and asked about it. Parts guy was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what had to be done, they were able to find and order all the parts needed for the mod. I think total cost in the end would have been around $1000 plus priming and painting the bumper cover. I looked around for the paperwork they gave me, but I cant find it, must have lost it during my move. I hope this helps.

I got my Z4 bumper on ebay. There's a DIY on here that shows you what parts you need to complete the project. It also cost me about $1000 to complete the project with all the parts and paint job.

Does anyone have an idea of the expected cost of just the parts needed for the bumper conversion? Particularly if new oem?

I was quoted $1500-$1800 at a body shop and thought it was ludicrous.

Wow. That's about 1/3 of what it would cost up here in Canada I expect.

The parts are around $1000 or so. You'd be paying $500-$800 for them to paint a new bumper, remove your old one, transfer all of the backing parts, and install the new one. That sounds like a very low price for what has to be at least 8-10 hours of labor.

Based on the DIY though it doesn't seem as labor intensive as one might think though.

If people are completing this project for sub $1000 using used bumpers etc, then I can't imagine going "new" should cost $800 more.

Bought a z3m front from schmiedmann a couple of years ago and it had bmw stamps and all, was very satisfied with it.

schmiedmann is OEM, they buy them at BMW.

easiest way is go to a dealer or a buy a secondhand bumper.

i got mine at the dealer but i'm dutch so other pricelevels compared to the US/Can
