DKF Section 1

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
Sold

Location:
✓ Will Ship

Item Interest
--------SOLD--------For sale is my DKF Section 1 setup. S-pipe, 100 cell cats & resonator coated in cast iron grey Nitroplate, 300 cell cats polished finish. Neither set of cats were installed but the s-pipe and resonator spent about 400 miles installed. The coating is chipped a bit on the flanges from installation and I'm sure there are some minor scratches due to install. I will include four v-band clamps, each of which was installed at some point. I would recommend replacing the T-bars due to stripped threads on all though one set may be serviceable.

Updated with pics. As you can see the resonators are still attached to the s-pipe for storage but they'll be removed for shipping. It appears there was a leak at that connection. It should clean right off and I'll do that before shipping. The leak is due to an install error on my part - not any sort of defect - and having to replace the v-bands with the section 1 installed (it would have been fine if I'd removed it in order to properly align the parts).

Local pickup in SoCal is preferred but I will ship. Payment by paypal as a gift or add $22 for fees.

Wow, I just sent payment for another DKF setup maybe 20 minutes ago. Wish you had posted just a tad sooner as I'm local. GLWS, great price considering this is coated and includes all parts!

I was waiting for Jroc to sell first, though I did see your post and location. Still, didn't want to steal a sale from him since he's had his advertised for a little while.

Fair enough! Local would have been nice but can't complain

Good luck with sale, someone should jump on this deal!

That's debatable and depends on your setup. If you keep running NA headers they'll pass OBDII no problem because O2s aren't modified. They'll apparently pass tailpipe if the cats in the headers are nice and hot when you go in. If the shop is really thorough and looks under the car though they won't pass visual of course.

I know this has probably been spelled out clearly somewhere else. But..

Can you give us a one or two sentence summary of how these compare to completely straight piped section 1, in terms of sound, smell, rasp?

I'm interested in S pipe and resonator only. Can you split them up?

love my dkf setup!! i need to get some fabrication done to it as id like to v-band the whole system so i could swap between the resonators / Cats even easier however im REALLy happy with the 100 CELL cats so ill do a dyno and if power is good ill probably sell the resonators anyway, i hear 100 CELL cats loose very little power and in our application ALITTLE back pressure is good for TQ.

I actually only ran this with the resonator so I can't really comment intelligently on sound, smell or rasp when installed with the cats. Sorry.

Sorry, I think I need to sell it as a set. Not sure there would be much interest in the cats alone.

CPI has a set of cats that supposedly will pass sniffer/OBD2, even with catless headers. There's a test car out in Cali that's willing to give it a shot. If everything goes well there will be a group buy. However, as it sits, it will only pass smog with stock headers.

300 cell versus 100 cell. I run the 100 cell, which clean up most of the fumes when warmed up. The 300 cell clean up even more and reduce rasp to a greater extent.

Thanks, pokey. I just snapped quick picks when I was picking my car up from storage today so it'd be a little while before I could have gone back for pics.

literally nothing in the 100 CELLs is their.... wow... id guess those loose very little in power to a total De-cat and prob make more TQ.
pokey thanks for this picture!! very much appreciated!! i LOVE my DKF section 1.. its increased exhaust noise about around 45% however

i guess their always is a pit-fall!! Im hoping i pass my tailpipe test in a few weeks that I've been putting off, ill get the car really hot before hand so ill choose a service station thats a good 30 mins away.
