Resonators for section 1

Anyone else think this is a good idea for some vendor to fab up?

I want to add headers to my supersprint race setup but don't to make my car unbearable for hwy driving..i.e. cant even hear yourself think. I know most E46M3 owners add a rasp pipe/resonator to fix this problem but we don't really have that option for our cars.

What do you guys think?

I would probably just go to a local exhaust shop and have them add the resonators. coz really its an easy thing to do and you can choose what brand you want, magnaflow, vibrant ultra quite ect.

Yeah- but I am running 4.10 gears (maybe you are too...not sure) and I hold a higher rpm on the hwy (3500 at 80mph) and I am nervous about headers plus straight pipes for section 1...I might have to put stock mufflers back on and I don't want to do that.

really depends on how old you are and how much sound is alrighty for you. Personally i am only 19 so the drone and sound is alirght for me and i even have a 50 mile daily commute in my car to school. I really don't think its a problem for myself but it is definitely pretty loud.

i had straight pipe section 1, deleted x pipe, and straight pipe mufflers. it was raspy and annoying. i didnt mind the drone but just cruising around i used to get stares. i got pulled over one time because it "sounded" like i was going fast.

but at WOT you could hear me coming down the block for sure. the blurps on deceleration was cool too.

I was thinking about deleting the secondary cats too in addition to a SS Header... Have the SS powerloop mufflers and the stock X-pipe. I think it might sound good / not too loud... I guess we'll see when I get around to it.

Vibrant make really good Ultra quiet resonators, but not sure if they will fit since they are pretty fat. But at least they cut down the rasp and tone it down a bit.

Bump for updates!

I'm probably going to pick up a set of AA headers myself and was hoping to see what you're reaction was to their sound. I'd probably run the headers along with a section 1 that I'll weld Random Tech hi-flow cats into.

AA Headers plus stock section 1 plus Supersprint Race Xpipe and Cans sounds awesome! It is not nearly as loud as I thought it would be but it is menacing. I let EPBrown drive my car last night and maybe he can share a third party impression of my cars exhaust. I do get a little nervous about taking out section 1 without putting in some sort of resonator though (maybe AR25 resonator).

E46 community swears by those, I'm still looking around to see if I can find a resonator that's going to fit properly.

I'm starting on straight pipes today.

As I said last night, I think it sounds great as is - not loud, but it has presence and is aggressive. I also think it looks good - the pipes appear to be about a half inch bigger in diameter and the looks says "I mean business."

Yeah...I will try to figure something out but I suck at video recording and posting. Let me see if I can find someone that knows how to do it properly.

Finding just regular flanges at a normal price is freaking difficult, I can't even find a 2.25 3 bolt flange online let alone at a good price. I bought a 1/4 inch piece of steel sheet and cut my own lol. I don't know what I'm going to do about the to header flange, as you may have seen it's really unique.

I don't get to start as it turns out for a bit longer.

I just went down to Burns Stainless at lunch and picked up some stainless tube and a J-Bend to delete my Section 1 resonators... muahahahah !!!!

$135 and some sweat is better than $650 or whatever SS is trying to charge for 2 pieces of stainless tube and 4 flanges.
