Nitro tires

I have raced for many years and use various gases in my tires basically to keep the air(gas) from expanding when it heats up... in limited horse power applications (go karts) this is critical because the tire grows in circumference as the gas expands... meaning less torque out of the turns... none of this means diddly squat if you are driving on the road with modern radial tires... don't waste your money.

you're treating me just like everyone that knows me does...that's just not right.

now your scaring away the newbies.......thanks for your input J_bydesign...i think that's why we got off topic, no one but 155 thought we should change to nitrogen in the tires.

I never thought we should switch to nitrogen, I simply provided a summary and a link to the information you asked for. My dear friend Rozie, I do believe you have been drinking again. Your posts are becoming incoherent!

okay so the debate over nitrogen is a loosing debate the simple fact of things is that the air is majority nitrogen, valve stems wear, temperatures change causing the seals to contract and change size loosing air pressure, really in the end you are wasting your money to have to check your air pressure 1 less time per month.

nitrous oxide in the lungs may induce euphoria as it is an anesthetic and an analgesic.

not vehicle grade nitrous though cause it has H2S whose toxicity is similar to that of hydrogen cyanide.

as people use to say, do not abuse nitrous oxide. Just enjoy it when you go to the dentist.

Nitrogen isn't affected by temperature changes like the 'regular' atmospheric mix. If you run your car on the track where tire pressures are critical for maximizing performance, then nitrogen is the way to go. If you are a daily driver kind of guy, then it makes no sense to use nitrogen unless you get it for free. Another benefit of nitrogen is that the larger molecules are less likely to seep out of your tire over time, thereby retaining a constant pressure over time better than that of a typical earth atmosphere mix.
