Well I really just wanted to save the headers because I have 2 sets of them seating at home, but after I gave some time to the idea I realize is not going to be any good doing that, so I contact the guys that custom made my other headers for the v10 and I decide to custom them and make it with a better performance so that's what Im going to do. Also they will custom make a middle section cat with the bungs for me and put a 100 cspi cat for better flow. Thank's for the answer anyways and please keep us posted about any cel's hoping that this will work for you because mine will use the same concept. And if you want later on change your headers Im doing a group buy of the custom ones. Hoping to have the dyno for it in a 30 days or so.

I still don't see where you put your EGT?

Also, where did you buy the obdII attachment for the Iphone?

EGT goes here - where the european Z4Ms have it.

Here is a link to the various hardware cable options for the iPhone Rev application

http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/index.html

If you have the patience and are good with wires, the stock O2 sensor wires and EGT can be unloomed and relocated to under the car. The shop needs a pair of stock O2 sensor connectors under the engine cover to create the adapters.

It works!!

Just had my OEM catless headers installed, with secondary 02 and EGT relocated. Drives great and after 300 miles, no CEL!!
Verified by OBDII.

Thanks PAL!!

Here are pictures of mine, not great but give you an idea. I wish they did not tap into my supersprint x pipe but it was too late when I saw it. Regardless it works great.

pardon my ignorance, so no dme reflash was necessary? Stock dme adjusted itself?

ok guys correct me if im wrong here... so unlike the e46 m3 the mz4 has cats in the headers and a second set of cats in the "section 1"... so to run csl/euro headers on OEM software you just install euro headers, relocate after cat 02 sensors to section 1 behind the secondary cats and the egt sensor?

So essentially the secondary cats become the primary cats?

^yes
As Pal has done you need to weld bungs into the back set.
That's my game plan as well.

I'm getting the O-Cha sims so there'll be no need to relocate the O2s or weld bungs. I'll make a post after I install the headers on the 1st.

I think this modification is complete. If anything changes down the line, I will be sure to update this thread.
Today, Vacmotorsport sells Fabspeed header with built-in bungs for the 02 sensors and EGT.
http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac-...z4m-p2637.aspx
Is it realistic to expect that the stock ECU will not throw CEL with this fabspeed header? Or, I still need to relocate the 02 and ECT behind the 2nd cat?

Thanks

You will need a tune with O2 readiness or relocate them.

I have the same headers on order & plan to get the Evolve tune

sorry for the bump -_-

i'm following that get and 02 sensors need to be relocated post secondary cat, but what if i'm running supersprint section 1 with no secondary cat? btw, i will be installing CSL headers. is there any relocating tricks i should be doing or just deal with the check engine light until I can get it tuned out..

Gracias

The reason there is no CEL when relocating O2 sensors downstream of the secondary cats is that these are full size cats. So the "cleaned" air exiting the cats and hitting the O2s is similar to when these were installed downstream of primary cats.

If you run cat less, there is no cleaning effect and readings on post cats will be out of range. People try things like extended bungs and simulators with mixed results.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the detailed write ups and notes... This is very useful information. I have a set of Euro headers sitting in my garage for some time now and I plan to do the install soon. After all my research, it seems to come down to two options to avoid any error messages:

1) Fabricate the stock US spec section 1 with the addition of bungs for CO2 sensors and EGT sensor (total of 3 sensors) for downstream.
*Question: If I were to use stock wiring by unlooming/loosening the cables to reach the back, do I still need to extend the wires and create new adapters?

2) Leave the EGT sensor and the 2 post-cat CO2 sensors unplugged. And get a tune to deal with the error codes.

bump for an answer!

also i would like to see the fabricated wiring harness for running the wires and holding them in place. i cant seem to find any pictures of how bmw ran the o2 sensor wiring on csl/euro cars.

You can always go with brand new euro cats. Bought mine through a U.S. parts dealer who was able to access the European OE parts network. Did this for three reasons; 1) preserving my U.S. spec cats, 2) my cats already had 60K miles and these parts do need to be replaced periodically, 3) ease of installation, avoiding the need to find someone who has the expertise to do this type of welding without any leaks.

As for the fabbed wiring harness, I found no need to do so. It is possible to use the wiring that came with U.S. spec cars. Yes, it does work, and nearly 1,000 miles later, I will report no codes, ever.
