Intake cam fault codes

After changing the VCG on my E86 (N52), it idles roughly on startup until I give it a little gas. I get the following codes via Bavarian Technic: 2A82, 2A99 and 2F45. These are all related to the intake cam timing. The VCG change went pretty easily but I am left to wonder why there is no procedure for re-indexing the valvetronic motor. I suspect that these messages, as well as the rough idle, are the result of that worm gear not reindexing correctly to the gear on the cam driveshaft. Every thread that I read about the procedure says that this motor re-indexes itself after a couple of cycles but I have not had that experience as yet.

Is there any other step i can take before having a shop look at it? I have used a 4mm hex to rotate the worm gear shaft in both directions. It doesn't seem to affect this problem. I get no code for a valvetronic motor failure (is there one?). Is it safe to drive to the shop?

TIA

Changing VCG has nothing to do with vanos and timing. I suggest you check if any plugs to sensor is loose when you did the work. Start with vano solenoid and CPS.

Rechecked everything this evening. All seems correct. After several more starts, the initial idle is getting smoother. It seems to run OK but there seems to be a slight hesitation when accelerating from a stop. I'll try a few more starts tomorrow and clear the codes to see if they come back.

Had Kais at Southbay Autohaus in Hawthorne, CA put it on their GT-1. Turns out that the intake VANOS solenoid needs to be replaced. Have both ordered. Great guy, great prices. Very knowledgeable.
