Sounds just like any other BMWs. 1 chirp for locking and 2 chirp for unlocking.
If you read through the thread, you'll find that even when activating the alarm from the dealer is a hit or miss. It took my dealer several tries to get it working correctly. |

but does water squirt out of the flower on your lapel?
I'm pretty sure there's an option you can code to get it to blink even with no alarm installed.

I suspect they will contact you to let you know the part is not available. It would be fantastic if they find one but they could not get one for me a few weeks ago.

Does anyone have the part number just for the siren portion - (found it in the dealer instructions - NM!) Or maybe a close up pic of the connector to compare? I may go that route and see about finding one second hand if new isn't available.

Yup. Its common that Z4s are set up for this light to blink even though no alarm was installed at the factory - mine is like that. I'm still amazed that BMW would sell a $50K + car without a factory alarm, when much cheaper cars at that time from other manufacturers had them as standard equipment.

I installed the motion sensor alarm in my 2006 Z4MR today, quite simple actually.
I have not coded for the alarm yet but I don't hear any chirps when locking/unlocking and I have read that I should at least be hearing this without coding... Is my alarm defective? Should I hear the chirp without coding? |

Many folks get the chirp right away but I think some have needed to have the cars programming coded before the chirp activates on lock and unlock. Was the clown nose under the rear view mirror blinking when the car was locked before you did the install? If not I think coding is needed. |

I have no blinking clown nose so I suppose it makes sense that there needs to be some basic coding to enable basic alarm functions. I wonder why some have this and others do not.

There are a few used sirens on eBay but the sellers seem to think they are worth more than gold. Look at eBay items here, here, and a mini cooper one here that is a reasonable price but the part number is 432 not 431 so I can't confirm it it would work and the cooper alarm chirp/sound might be different |

Everything was preinstalled and right where the DIY instructions showed them to be.

Hey all. I still have mine. Made an attempt to install but my 2.5 wasn't pre-wired for this. If anyone is interested I'd sell for $40 shipped. Just PM me if you're interested. The package is complete.
