I never saw this mentioned here, so I thought I'd post a link: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=621144

It's a one off race car commissioned by someone with a very large budget, probably a European spending his Euros against the devalued dollar to have all that expensive custom work done. There are a number of US restoration shops that are doing a very good business with European customers for the same reason - their money goes a long way here. I would be willing to bet that car is destined for a wealthy gentleman in Germany who will enjoy it fully, I'm sure.
Notice they posted it on a pseudo-ricer second rate E46 forum rather than one of the Z4 forums. They aren't looking to sell any more of those bodies, and probably don't want to. They want to sell generic carbon fiber hoods and fenders to kids with E36s and E46s. |

The body parts are being made by a small shop in Milwaukee, but the car's being assembled by a Chicago-area race shop - Fall-Line Motorsports. That's the shop that did my 3.91 diff swap, and I saw the parts lying around in their waiting room. I wasn't surprised to see they did the cf roof and bonnet, but when I started seeing door skins and fenders, I knew they were up to something.
I wouldn't be too sure the car is going overseas - Fall-Line is where serious track junkies go from this area, and they had a couple other track-prepped Z4Ms there when I first went, along with a 996 GT3, a couple of stripped E46 M3s, and a Ferrari 360. |

I like the custom fabrication of the fiber, but that would be one expensive wreck!

Nice work on the car. Nice find op. The fighting is not so nice. However, verts are ballin, and I think someone is a bit jealous for not having 2miles of headroom.

Were I a serious shop I would much rather post on a high traffic E46 forum with a technically knowledgeable user base than the Z4 forums where most solutions seem to end with "take it to the dealer" and modding ends at wheels and cup holders. Theres not much going on here...
