ECS Rod Bearing Kit

Just picked up this rod bearing kit from ECS. Anybody use this before? I’ve been looking at many threads on this, and I believe it includes all the parts needed. Anything they missed that I should pick up?

I did ask them to swap the victor reinz pan gasket for a genuine, and added some more oil. Thought about the VAC oil pump upgrade, but haven’t seen any reviews that convince me it’ll help

Where is the single self-locking collar nut used?

Some people replace the oil pump sprocket nut with a new one, and use loctite, since there have been a few instances where those came loose.

Gasket sealer. Loctite.

Some like to replace the steering column bolt.

Good question. Looks like it comes off front stabilizer bar per realoem. Actually has 4 of them, and interestingly the now-discontinued Genuine BMW rod bearing kit (recreated here) comes with 4 of them. Maybe ECS thinks I’ll only lose 1? Pretty sure you can reuse those

I'm not how you'd be able to do the repair without removing some portion of the power steering pump so I'd say add 1qt ATF, and potentially a few of the banjo washers:

PS Banjo washers - (2) 32411093596
PS Banjo washers - (2) 32411093597

When I did mine I also removed the top bolt holding the oil cooler lines, I don't think this is absolutely necessary but it gives you a lot more room for very little effort and cost:

Oil cooler line o-rings (2) - 17222245358

Good luck, post up results.
