Z4MC seat belt replacement

Hey guys,

I am looking to replace my lazy passenger side belt as it does not want to retract. I have already dismantled my trunk area once to install a Mediabridge unit and would like to avoid that hassle again. Have if any of you done this? Is the seat belt accessible from behind the seat? I am wondering if I can get to it by disassembling the plastic trim around the sub.

Thanks!

Ryan

The belt reel is behind the rear bulkhead.
You need to remove the trims in that area

No need to dismantle the trunk. Get the rear roller sun shade removed and you will be able to access both seat belt assemblies simply by pulling back the carpet.

Hey guys I have finally gotten around to trying this and have hit a road block. Before I attempt to take anything else apart I thought I would seek some guidance from you. I need to remove the passenger side seat belt and have removed the B pillar cover, the trim piece directly below the B pillar and the trim piece directly above the center console.

Can you please advise on next steps? This is where I'm at: (Please excuse the dusty interior, a full detail is pending this install )

Thanks in advance! Much appreciated!

You need to remove all the trim across the top in order to get the tonneau cover roller out.
Once that's out you're good

Do you know how the small trim pieces around the seat belt come off?

Its been a while but IIRC, Its two pieces
one part you have to pry off with a trim tool,
the other is bolted

So I finally got around to doing this, your tips on getting the interior trim apart were very helpful, thank you.

Turns out the belt was just twisted below the trim piece so I didn't need to replace it! It's all back together now and working in good order.

Thanks again guys!
