O2 Bungs/EGT Bung - Euro Headers w/modified stock cats section

Any reliable source(s) to get these bung sets from to do this modification to the stock secondary cats section??

I will be installing my euro headers soon and modifying the stock secondary cats section. Lots of good pictures on here for the o2 sensors and the relocation of the wiring, but didn't see anything on the EGT (or I missed it in my searches).

List of other stuff:

Bimmerworld header install kit
O-ring on the constant pressure valve
clips for the re-wire routing, Part # 12521437136 (does anyone know how many are needed?)

If you want something local you can try JRP and ask for the Vibrant J Bungs

Also Im sure if you call HotRod Scotts they'd do everything for you.

Good Luck!

I need to get the bung specs so that I don't get the wrong parts for this. Nothing worse than welding on stuff that is wrong.

I think I may have this sorted out now with regards to the bungs. EGT sensor doesn't need to be moved. Just need to add the two oxygen sensor bungs right after the secondary (now primary) cats. Losts of pics here on this forum.

J Style O2 Sensor and the fitting is M18 x 1.50 thread and 304 stainless steel.

Checking with JRP locally here in Canada. Apparently Verocious Motorsports in the states will be my next option if JRP doesn't come through.

Still need to sort out how many clips are required for the o2 sensor cable relocate. I see four here from another member's super clean install.

Thanks to all of you that replied directly. When I get around to doing this installation, I will take more pictures and post them all up.

Forgot about the EGT. Unless i'm mistaken, the euro header doesn't have a bung for the EGT. It has to be installed in front of the cats in section 1.

Anyone have any idea if it's a standard 1/4" or 1/8" .......... I may have found a source for the bung............ maybe.

Off another thread, someone posted "14x1.5 mm thread, 7.45 mm ID, 25 mm long". If that 7.45mm ID is what I think it is, looks closed to 1/4".

"J" fitting definitely downstream of the cats, but fairly snug right after them.

Was in a rush to try and get these headers and exhaust up on the car .......... then I started driving her again in the good weather and for whatever reason, not so much in a rush to spend those 8+ hours under the car right now. Would rather be out driving around aimlessly.

But still working on assembling all the parts and preparing everything. Definitely will get this done this summer. Only wish we had good reliable suppliers here in Canada that had the bits and pieces. Cross border shipping is terrible. And all the companies I've contacted here.......... none have responded at all...... in weeks.

Yes, already have a box. The pay to play thing isn't lost on me. I've been doing this for a long time. Isn't my first day at the rodeo. But the trip all the way there to pick up three bungs is a bit much, right!! I'd need a pile more stuff to make it worth the costs. And right now that just isn't happening......

So, little update.

Have had not much luck finding this EGT bung. So, noticed that there seems to be a few E46 M3 cat-ed headers being dumped on Kijiji. Anyways, long story short, I got a full set of North American E46 M3 headers for $40 CAN. It has both the EGT bung and the o2 bungs. Thing is the o2 bungs for the euro setup need to be on a 90 degree angle (or parallel) to the cats in Section 1. Hmmmmmmm. After I cut the bungs off that I need, may be able to rig up something to fit up those o2 bungs. Otherwise, just will source out the J-bungs and buy them. Shitty part is getting two j-bungs here may run about $100+. Stupid.

Instead of getting expensive J-bungs you can buy these and have them welded in.

Went to the Canadian BMW Dealership local to me to see what they could do for the nuts, studs, screws and gaskets. So basically new hardware for:

Head to headers - gaskets, nuts and studs
Headers to Section 1 - nuts and bolts and gaskets
Section 1 to the back end - nuts bolts and gaskets
Reinforcement Plate - 8 screws

I roughly checked over the quote they gave me........ for $861 taxes in including a 20 off. WTF ?!?!!?

That's insane, but somehow I'm not at all surprised. With my hardware I went to Pfaff BMW and it was just as much headache. Cole's notes:
  • I priced out my hardware on getBMWparts.com, which seemed like the best price but unfortunately they don't ship to Canada so I'd have to factor in taxes/duties and driving across the border to get it:$107.72 USD
  • I priced out the same parts on Pfaff BMW's online parts store: $224.40 CAD
  • Being a repeat customer of Pfaff BMW, and assuming they wouldn't publish their best price publicly online, I took the quotes in to the dealer and asked for a quote at the parts counter. The quote I gave them was Tischer's, and they right away said my pricing was off and their cost was higher than what I had - I agreed it was probably due to the that quote being in USD and asked them to continue (in the back of my head figuring they would just give me the same prices I found online). They hand me the printed quote and my jaw dropped: $368.03 CAD
  • I then handed them the online quote from their own dealership, and questioned the difference, all they said was they would happily match the price online. I ended up swallowing my pride and paying this price (plus an additional 20% off for being part of a local BMW club) which came in around $200 CAD after tax

That's actually very helpful. I'm going to check out the Pfaff BMW online and get a quote from there. I just want a reasonable price. Not asking for anything for free !!

**************************

****UPDATE****

Yeah, wow. That's a significant difference. I'm going to check in with Maranello BMW to see if they will match Pfaff's online pricing. Even without the 20% off, it's well over $200 cheaper.

When I was buying I checked Endras and Pfaff and found both their online prices (using the same online tool) were the same. Have you checked Maranello's? Might be even easier to ask for a price match if their site shows those prices.

I have my buddy at SEM pulling something together for me. He did the welding for the EGT and the o2 bungs for me and did a really nice job. If he can't pull it together for me for a decent price, I will do the online thing and then speak to the parts manager. But thanks again for the heads up as that will really help.

Also just bought a set of 12 ton jack stands to use with my ramps. Princess Auto had them on sale for $99 for a pair. They can get the car up 28" which should be lots of room to work.
