Z4 M - RPMS Went Crazy
Driving home Saturday the car started acting nuts at shut down and start up. Bouncing rpm=500-700 and then not staying running. Service Engine Light came on.
Indy shop says vvt error and other's but they conflict with each other, did my vanos go out?

Shop thinks it the IAC.
I'll see if he will tell me the codes.

It was the bearing on the intake hub. I don't know how you can check it to prevent that from happening. It never made a sound, even when the mechanic got in in the shop and was testing. He found the one piece that broke that sealed it in. But the whole unit has to be replaced. So fellow M owners, keep a eye out.

My baby is a garage queen. You are not safe just because you don't track your car. It does not make a difference.

I posted on Facebook in the ZSCCA all the pictures of my Vanos. The car is back together and I can tell at least a 30 percent drop in the noise. Maybe because it's I have not been it in a while, in either case it runs like a top now. I can certainly tell the difference in the performance. And yes, it was an arm and two legs this time. $3800.00 clams to get it fixed.
