I feel dirty...
I just registered on mbworld... I'm thinking of a C63 AMG, I'm tired of my M and want something comfier. I think I need a break from BMWs

Nothing wrong with the C63 AMG at all. My cousin went from an older M3 to that car. He tried the new M3 and said it was great, but that the C63 AMG felt like a starship.
Definitely not the same feeling at all of a roadster, however if you're in the mood for a car that's ridiculously fast and comfier than a car that fast has a right to be, by all means

Agreed, it's just that I've never been a fan of MB and I would have never imagined they would come when I'd lust for one.
I'm going to go test drive it tomorrow.

I went to an MB promo event last year and tried the AMG on a racetrack. With the AMG, I didn't really care for the cars looks, but that engine, oh that engine! There is so much torque available that with just the lightest dab of the that it completely overwhelms the chassis IMO. The car is scary fun and probably too much of a handful for the street. it sounds totally badass as well.
The cars character is completely defined by the monster V8 under the hood. And it is seductive. Don't drive it unless you mean to buy it.

Aside from the performance of the C63, Merc interiors are put together really well, leaps above the cheap plastic found in the BMWs and Audis.

Looking for a sedan, we're consolidating to one car, so I want something with 4 doors (a first in my garage)

Like others have said, nothing wrong with that, and the reasons "for" are pretty much covered. And, Mercs don't catch on fire, so there's that too!
'Course you could put some H&R Coils on the ///M, but if you've got the itch to change things up, meh, time to try something else. |

Yeah, I am quite disappointed with BMW's customer service.
The roadster doesn't work as my wife doesn't like to drive it (she doesn't feel confident with the top up as she can't see behind her) and we need something with more space anyways. Also, I'm thinking an automatic (DSG) would be nice for the city

Go for it! I never hated MB, but I also never considered actually owning one til I took a ride in a friends C63 AMG...my god...as someone said above, I'm afraid if I actually drive one I'll somehow force myself to buy one.

Yeah I don't think an F150 will work in downtown Seattle...

Annoyingly for the rest of us who need to deal with them, some folks manage to pull it off.

lol thats the reason we dont buy MB's anymore though it was only one , with the attitude we recived from them drove us to the other side of german enginnering, i guess your screwed with either direction, wink wink just kidding. but yea i think it depends on the dealer more than anything else, i will say thoug that the MB tech's that worked on my car would give the car back to me with more wrong with it than i took it in fore. once they damage my back glass and screwed up my leather seat and damaged my dash trim trying to find out a sterio issue, it was as if he had never removed the sterio and resorted to prying at it....... shame! i find each of the german saloons offer 3 different feelings and MB definetley has the bruit force! those engines pull hard! |

Noooooooo, even though we're receiving a constant influx of members on here judging by the "welcome" thread, i feel like we're losing a lot of our "regulars" on here to them selling their Z's
stay with us!

What the hell kind of "selling" is that? I guess you need to give your original salesperson the benefit of the doubt, but I would be immediately turned off and go to another dealer otherwise. AND leave a bad review on Yelp. It amazes me how these "salespeople" miss the basic fundamentals of selling. Bending over backwards for the customer and kissing their feet is how you get the sale. And a test drive is hardly that.

Yeah, I was speechless in amazement, he then said something among the lines that if I wanted to go for a joy drive then it was ok since he had nothing else to do, but he'd have to move cars to get to that one and that it would be a lot of work... heck he didn't even offer to show the car... I'm going to have a serious conversation with the sales manager tomorrow.

Reminds me of an experience I had long ago when I was 18. I had just moved to a new city for college, and my friend and I dropped in on an exotics dealer (Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari). We were looking at a Porsche in the show room, and the sales guy came up to us and treated us like adults and like we had the money. He even offered to let us take it for a test drive. We were shocked and scared, and declined the offer haha. But that is true salesmanship -- never underestimate the customer. If you do, you're losing big ticket sales.
My gf also complains that when she visits high-end fashion stores, the employees don't give her the time of day if she's not looking fabulous. She makes well over 100K/year.

Ok, so I have never been a Mercedes fan over the years and for good reasons.
Two of my good friends were master mechanics that worked for MB dealers here and in Hawaii and both said NEVER buy a Mercedes and when I asked why, they said that they are nothing but problems, regardless of warranty. So once I moved on from one of my NSXs I totally overlooked Mercedes all together and moved on to BMW.. Never looking back. Funny thing is one of my buddies owns a M6 and the other an M3. Go figure.. I have also never liked the looks of the car. But again that was after hearing so many negatives from my friends. Just keep your BMW, if your want luxury look at the 6 series.

While I agree the Chrysler/Benz era Mercedes are an absolute pile of stinking poo, the newer MB and in particular the AMG models have had very good reliability records, better than BMW. The 6 series is way too big for downtown and has the wrong number of doors.
