Anyone else find their horn a tad bit on the quiet side / high pitch?
Barely noticeable in NYC traffic unless hold it down for 3 seconds or more. I also don't think it sounds aggressive enough, a deeper/louder tone would command the attention of other drivers.
Anyone ever replace their horn with an alternative? Maybe a stock horn from a 5 or 7 series? Hmmm... |

I did in my E46, but that was a direct result of the low tone horn being dead.
Does it sound girlie? I'd confirm both horns work (we have two).

I've noticed this in NYC as well, but I am not sure if it's partially due to the length of hood in front of the driver. I've never driven a car with a driving position as low and as far back as in the Z, so maybe sound is deflected away from the interior? That, or it's just not loud enough...

I've been considering swapping horns as well. I had a nice set of dual trumpet "Crazy Red Italian" air horns in my Miata for years (think they were PIAA's). Always made me smile when I used them!
Steibel, particularly their Nautilus line was the one I was zero-ing in on. It's kinda cold though here nowadays (don't heat my garage) and the thought of pulling the front bumper and cracking something is too much a reality. Think this is a spring project for me. |

I have the Italian ones from Griots Garage...and they are NICE and LOUD...love em, and the pitch has the nice euro sound of course...good price on them as well. They do have 3-4 to choose from and I got the loudest ones, and am glad I did.

I assume that is a pretty easy install job. Do yo have a link to where I could get those, or the part / model number?
