Which SSK to buy?

Hey guys,

wondering what your opinion is on which Short Shift Kit to buy for the Z4M

Rogue Engineering has this one (David @ EAS confirms it will fit the M)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1971

and Autosolutions has this one (couldnt find it on their website so see thread)
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=441622

and now also the UUC Evo3 (thanks intgr8er for mentioning)
which is roughly around $350

Clearly the Rogue is much cheaper... anybody have experience with the three or can chime in just by the descriptions?

You'll get lots of feedback on the Autosolutions SSK soon.
Another to consider is the UUC Evo3

If you haven't searched on M3Forum.com yet, in the E46 section, you might do that too. They use a lot of shifters from the same manufacturers, the info could be helpful.

E46 M3 owners heralded the AutoSolutions SSK's. Then after I test-drove one for our Z4M, I knew it was definitely a contender. I compared it to my buddy's M3's AS SSK and the Z4M one engages each gear more easily (a lot less force required to push into the shift gates). After hearing from some personal sources about UUC and Rogue being "just so-so" or even "no good", I figured the AS SSK was the right one for me. Now, after 1200-miles or so, I'm happy to report that my intuition was right all along

maybe it's just me but i was/am perfectly content with the combo of the cdv + oem zhp knob + uuc trans mounts (black). shifts are precise and at a height that is comfortable. plus that combo of mods was far less than $350...

but with that said, although i've never driven a z4 with ssk, i can vouch for RE's quality behind their products. they're local to me and have a great reputation here, not to mention the spacers i am using by them are of top notch quality, perfect fitment, super light (window design)....

btw - isn't RE cheaper due to the fact it doesn't include a wsr? another thing to consider is that UUC always has a 15% off promotion with free s/h, and sometimes the occasional 20% off (on holidays but not sure if that includes free s/h).

Did you get the DSSR with their kit? Or do they not offer it for the Z4? How was the install?

Install was pretty easy, you may be able to bend the heat shield enough for access without removing the exhaust, that's what I did for the M3.

DSSR is still in development but I'm not sure it would be worth it, that would require removing the exhaust.

Ronald @ AutoSolutions mentioned that the Z4 does not need any upgrades to the factory selector rod. Just some food for thought

FWIW, seems like Active Autowerks (teamed up with UUC) is now offering their line of SSK's but not sure if its actually any different from the UUC Evo3
