Noob question about sound improvement

Which will yield a larger overall sound increase: rpi axe-back, jvt headers, or xpipe?

Im sure this is a dumbass question, but i honestly dont know- thanks for the help

have f360 chime in, i know he has the ebay headers. and i believe starscream has the xpipe (or full ss setup minus headers).

just a guess but most likely the axel back as the muffler really changes the sound the most i think.

I connected the Supersprint X-Pipe to my stock mufflers and noticed a nice increase in growl. Not a lot, but definitely sounds meaner than the stock setup. Our stock cans are quite quiet.

The RPI will be the loudest without question. I had the BMS axle-back only then went back to full stock then went to JVT's only then back to stock. The exhaust cans definitely have the biggest impact on volume. Headers on an otherwise stock system will give you slightly more volume but are more noticeable in how they change the tone to a raspier note.

^might i add a consideration for intakes? gruppe m + anything above 4000 rpms = aural intoxication. anything less than 4000 rpms is nice and peaceful with a tinge more growl and bass than stock. albeit, intakes are all engine sound. exhaust note will have zero change.

Mufflers are definitely louder over headers or section 2/x-pipe. If you want louder, do mufflers first. If you want the most power gain, do headers first.

LOVE my Rogue Engineering Diablos....low growl, sounds like it looks now....plus, save significant weight which lowers the CG.

I have SS X-Pipe and Race Cans! Definitely gives the a much deeper, loud tones and rumbles that you could feel in the cabin. The best parts are the fabulous burbling noise when downshifting (or when slightly tap on the throttle). There are some droning around 2800rpm; i always try not to be at that range for long (which easy to do except in the city or traffic situation). Not sure about the weight savings but they are definitely much lighter than OEM.

Might be slightly off topic but what do you guys think the sound/performance gains would be from doing a supersprint section 1 cat delete plus the X-pipe to the stock cans?

As far as exhaust mods go, this is the hierarchy for hp gains from highest amount of gains to lowest:

headers
section 1
section 2
mufflers

The wife wasn't thrilled with the exhaust. (I think I'm going to put it back on this spring anyway) I loved the headers but hated the SES light and I wasn't about to spend a grand on a simple tune. I have a SS catless section 1 that I haven't tried yet as well. It may be the solution to get a little more volume without the hassles associated with the headers.

I'm going to side with your wife. RPi is way too loud. You should leave it off your car... then sell it to me for a ludicrously low price
