aFe CAI Intake (like new)

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
I have a barely used aFe CAI for the Z4M. I bought it about 1.5 months ago, used less than 1,000 miles, but decided I wanted to keep the car stock and put the money towards some cosmetics. (Hello Mstache).

The only signs of wear is on the bottom of the metal housing where it was scraped during installation and moving it around. You can't see it once installed, it scrapped against the bolt sticking up for the rubber bumper. Other than that it's got some finger prints on it.

Other than that, it's like new.

$350 New England pick-up / ~ $365 shipped (can get exact shipping quote)

Any benefits other than the sound when Installing this? Alternatively any performance drop?

I felt probably a small performance drop, but it could be in my head.

Engine "probably" ran a "little" cooler with it, not much though to notice a major difference. I was also driving it in colder weather so the test results may vary.

Yes. It is in my garage now.

Regarding power differences, the only decrease in power is related to air temperature (hot air) and low pressure area in the box. You will have equal or increased power as long as you insulate and seal the intake box to ensure a lower temperature and higher pressure zone.

No. I won't have the car in California until May 20th. After that, I can meet you all in person. I have one on my wagon e90 but I'm sure it will sound different on the s54.

I have not done it too this car since I don't have the car yet. You can buy the insulation sheets at any specialty automotive shop. You can cut them to the size that you want. Most grassroots racers make there own airboxes. Other than that, look for places that allow air to escape the box which will decrease pressure. I will post some pics when its installed.

Rob,

I can't wait to meet you guys and be driving this fabulous cars. It has been a long wait.
