Evolve Carbon Airbox and Evolve Alpha N tune installed by VAC

VAC recently installed an Evolve Carbon Airbox and Evolve Alpha N tune on a Z4M.

Here are some pictures of the install and dyno graph which shows over 300 WHP on their Mustang dyno which reads lower than a dynojet.

Will share some feedback from the customer when I have some.

My bet is that catless headers are already installed, but you'd know better than me!

I dyno'd 296/228 on a Mustang with just Euro headers, stock airbox and stock cams w/ Epic tune. The AFR looks kind of high there.

EAS pulled 318 whp on mine with the Evolve box, tune, Euro headers and Euro cats. Stock cams.

Not to be a pessimist, but I find these dynos completely pointless without a baseline, either compared to stock or just pre air box

Unfortunately you are right, which is why I was none too pleased to hear that one was not performed, especially as I both specifically requested it to be done, and because they promised me several times that it would.

With regard to the mustang dyno question, a quick google search finds that on the S65, there is a rather large spread on the mustang, with stock whp ranging from 305 all the way to 360. http://www.s65dynos.com/

Next week I'll be taking the car for a dynojet readout, not to flatter myself, but they seem at least to be a bit more internally consistent with each other, as to compare apples to apples, and not apples to bricks (poor attempt at a bit of humor)

The baseline stock S54 readings are well documented on this forum. They typically run between 265 and 280 whp. EAS confided that most are in the 265-275 range. The conversion factor to crank HP has also been documented to be between .85-.86. Euro headers typically account for 10-15 whp.

I remember seeing your Dynojet plot back in January. I guess we, will see how it does next Monday on the Dynojet over here in Mass.

Either way, I am happy with the results... Absolute horsepower was not the goal, as I wanted to keep the car NA.

btw, I posted in the other thread that I am seemingly unable to blip the throttle for a heel-toe with this particular tune, any thoughts on this?

Dunno about the heel and toe. Mine is pretty responsive. Keep in mind we have climates that are very different. I do have the strange idle surging when it is cold and I put my foot on the brake. Other than that, it is fine after it warms up. Contact Imran, he may be able to do something about it. I do know they will adjust every installation. For example, all we can buy here is 91 octane, so he took that into account. Yes, I had to sacrifice a few hp but the tune matches perfectly. Had slight pinging under load before the tune, none now.

That's still not what you really want to compare to have really solid comparisons....dynos and conditions vary, and can throw readings by a long shot...my previous car dynoed 275 on one dyno and 330 on another so I take dyno results with a grain of salt

Maybe the .5 second improvement in 0-60 and the 1 mpg improvement are also subject to doubt.

Evolve rock !! very nice people, id like to see them back off the lean AFRs however.... i know they have a strategy to deal with the higher AFR but i just don't like seeing mid 12 at redline.....

mid 12's on an na car doesn't seem too aggressive to me. I ran cars on 40 psi that lean....12's are normally what give best mean tq on pump gas in an na car. Some want leaner than that.

Do you get a sudden loss of power w/ WOT around 6k RPM?

What do you mean? Are you saying 12 is lean or rich.
