I considered doing that when I got my strut bar but I didn't want to drive around for a week without my firewall braces on, so I went the other route.

I think the Aluminum looks really good. I think I like it better.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life. I bought my front strut bar and had it power coated as well.

The problem i'm having though is, the factory upper mount nuts are too big to fit in the strut bar plate's recessed holes. Did you guys have to get new nuts? If so where did you get them from? That's the only thing holding me back from installing it

It's hard to remember now, but I'm pretty sure my strut bar came with it's own nuts to use.

I found these referenced on another forum. Maybe you can check these out and see if they work.

I appreciate it, I'll check it out tomorrow. As far as i can tell, mine only came with the nuts for to bolt the bars and plates together. and i have to reuse my factory nuts, and they don't fit. I'll double check just to be sure. If not, well at least i hopefully have the right part numbers

Does anyone know what size are the strut nuts for the back bars and front as well as the nuts that hold the bar to the side plates? Working on a special project! . Thanks in advance!

If we could find similar caps in the right size, that would be great. Otherwise, he was thinking of going with new nuts with a black coating.
The seat front mounting nut covers are the same (16mm).............

I can't remember but luckily you need 4 of each

I'd wager M8 is strut brace and M10 is firewall.

Thanks for the Fastenal part numbers? Do you know if Fastenal also has the replacement nuts C-lost needed (BMW p/n: 51 717 895 241)? Those ring up at nearly $10 EACH from BMW...

Yikes.

That I don't know. Mine came with them, so I never looked.

I just checked my firewall braces and the fasteners that I have are 16mm bolts not nuts? My E86 M is a 08. Is this normal? Does anyone know the sizing on these?

Yeah that's normal. I remember hearing somewhere that you might have either setup (I'm pretty sure it was on the Strong Strut ordering page).

Not sure on the sizing, sorry.

Yea thats it! Looks like a M10x20? But on my firewall braces both ends are bolts so I'm assuming both would be the same? The diagram looks like it shows a nut and a bolt (2 types of bolts)?

For the 6 strut bar nuts has anyone gone with just normal M8 nuts without the color and had any issues with the camber moving and adjusting for those with coil overs since the strut tower holes are adjustable?
