By the way, I think that part number in the original post is wrong. Doesn't matter though since the 2005 lens retrofit kit is out of production. Costs around $400 to piece it together yourself for a pair of clear sidemarkers, 1 clear brake light and a pair of used tail lights from a 2005. Unfortunately there's not much you can do about the amber turn signal lens in the headlights unless you can find some used 2005 headlight assemblies which costs around $1000 for the bi-xenon version. Too much $$$ for a minor aesthetic mod, IMO.

He was before my time but I've seen his name all over the BMW forums. His last post on Bimmerpost was made 02-01-2013, on Bimmerfest it's 03-19-2013 and Bimmerforums is 01-08-2012. He probably doesn't own a BMW anymore, but somehow I think that's unlikely. His profile shows that he's 72, so maybe health problems? I'm sure there are older members on here who knew him in real life so maybe they will chime in.

Lol... not sure what happened to my picture over the past few years, but it certainly wasn't a goldfish.

pokey: is your inside housing looks pretty dark (not just the smoked amber lens). Is it painted black or is it the stock metallic silver?

It's painted matte black. The signal strips were amber since the car is a 2003 model, but I had them smoked dark. I was afraid that they would be too dim. They actually turned out pretty good and are plenty bright. If you have amber hockey sticks, I highly recommend the dark smoke.

FWIW, the halos are the most obvious visual mod I've done, and they get a lot of compliments. It's usually the first thing people notice about the car. The rest of the aesthetic mods are subtle to the non-enthusiast.

So you get 2 halos as DRLs (similar to current gen BMWs). What does it look like at night? Do the two halos stay on when the outer bi-xenon light comes on?

I never noticed you did an M front bumper conversion until now. Looks great!

The halos operate independently of the lights. They are always on when the car is on.

Thanks for the compliment. I had it resprayed with the reflector holes and headlight washer holes filled in. It cleans up the front end nicely.
