Did you drive it with the sport button activated? If you did, DON'T! That thing will mess up the clutch fast in combination with the CDV (Clutch Delay Valve) if you do some spirited driving/Auto-X.

LuK is an OEM supplier and they make quality products.

I do not use the sport button and recently removed the CDV. However, as I said, I just acquired the vehicle.

From what I have read, the lightweight flywheel is pretty noisy. I really do not want to add additional noise.

I don't have any suggestions for replacement parts, but you're right, that is very few miles to need a clutch. Do you know the history and driving habits of the previous owner. Have you had a blackstone oil report done? If not I highly recommend it in case the previous owner spent allot of time near redline (they may have since the clutch is spent at 41k) which can prematurely wear out the rod bearings.

Blackstone report sounds like a good idea to me too. Clutch shot at 41K miles indicates one of two things:

• novice driver
• car was flogged

Considering the car I lean towards the latter.

Well, the sport button fucks up the throttle response making it too sensitive and that creates a perfect storm for slipping the clutch while doing some spirited driving. The throttle response is awesomely linear without the sport button, don't understand why anyone would want to get rid of that. It doesn't give you anything in an M except for the fucked up throttle response.

I can't count the number of times I've heard guys asking "why does this car jack rabbit so badly when starting off?"
Often, they are using sport mode.

Clutches will wear, regardless of mileage. Previous owner could have abused it (it's what these cars are great for!). You really should attempt to locate another Z4 (or any other vehicle for that matter) who uses an aluminum flywheel (or single mass), and sprung disc/aftermarket clutch setup, and drive it around. The chatter isn't all that bad depending what disc you go for (go for full face, not a puck setup). Pedal engagement is still fantastic.

I run a setup on my Supra and never looked back.

In the end, you save hundreds to thousands of dollars for clutch, flywheel and pressure plate vs. going all OEM replacement. You should resurface or replace the flywheel (I believe dual mass flywheels are non-serviceable). TurnerMotorsports option linked above is a good one, also Clutchmasters sells a complete kit for the Z4M.
