BMW assist is ruining my experience.....

i dont know what is causiing this but the damn assist feature turns on whenever the hell it wants to.....this sucks.the dealer couldnt figure it out....supposedly.....any ideas?

I have seen posts on this but don't recall where.
IIRC there is a switch or relay under the console that is shorting out
(same effect as pushing the button)

IIRC, this was a problem on the early cars; there were a few posts about it on Bimmerfest before I bought mine. I forget what the fix was

This is a common problem well into the 2007 model year. Tell your dealer to do some more research into the problem.

in all seriousness, dealer had to take apart the whole module, dry everything out and replace the unit. thank god the air bag module was not affected.

I just disconnected the unit in the trunk, as I never use my assist. I plan on hooking it back up and "deactivating" assist later on when I go in to the dealer.

Keep in mind that if you disconnect it, you may deactivate the car's ability to auto-dial BMW Assist in the event of a crash. Why not just have your dealer fix it?
