Trying to use the emergency hatch release as seat harness anchors?

Broke the rear hatch outside handle and now you're opening from the inside using a strap?

Haha all good guesses.

There is actually a hint in the picture that I didn't originally see when I took it.

If you disconnect the battery, you know you can use the key in the hatch release.

Nope. Didn't know that. Makes sense when you think about it.

To be fair, I had just gotten done with an 8 hour meeting at work so my brain is a little on the soft side.

I feel like an idiot.

I laughed as soon as I saw the pic!. I did the same thing when re installing the battery after winter storage.

I can't remember how I pulled the emergency release but I remember thinking that the plastic handle was going to break before it disengaged the latch and then I'd really be screwed...

Anyways I know it's a dumb mistake I will hopefully never repeat.

I can see the end of a battery cable (ground) so I gather you closed up the rear without re-installing the battery.....

Failing to tie up the brake pad wear sensor after installing the BBK. Now I have (2) pieces of electrical tape on my instrument cluster.

What about pulling into a garage parking spot for the first time and hearing "crshhhh" as the front lip hits the cement curb?

When I'm doing corner balancing & suspension set up, I'll often just put 2 nuts on the wheels because they're on & off several times.

....headed out on a test drive like that one day.
was lucky that I could feel it before I got too far.

Aren't you checking the trunk/emergency handle geometry for easier access?

I unhooked the battery to swap on my M wheel and closed the trunk hatch. Then totally spaced that I could use the key to open it so rigged up a hook to grab the emergency release.
