I will only observe that I have a cat. He has a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Totally chill and friendly with humans. Mice or rats - POOF - Mr Hyde Cat appears. Which is why I have no mice or rats!

That looks like chipmunk poop to me, the PO of our property fed them and there were thousands.
In the foundations, walls, attic, I started feeding a couple of stray cats that wandered on to the property, Ted and Spooky. They had the population knocked down within a month. GL

I have rats on my property sometimes. That's what their poop looks like. But I'm no expert - could totally be something else.
When that poop starts showing up (it's outdoors/on the ground in my case), I use this trap with peanut butter as bait. Within a few nights I get one. I keep using traps until I go 4-5 nights without catching one. |

Other animals like the smell of rat poison too, you got to think about them as well. That's why they keep rat poison in those black boxes so only rodents can get at it.

We had some of †hose in our attic(roof breach) for whatever reason, we have never had an issue with rodents in the garage.
