Finding a steering wheel around Toronto
I picked up an 06 Z4 3.0si and looking to change the steering wheel. Suggestions where to get an M wheel (decently priced that is), or maybe have someone remake the original and make it thicker with nappa leather or alcantara or maybe even a combination of both
Looking for suggestions and possibly if someone knows places around Greater Toronto Area. |

Thank you, I'll call them up and see what they have. The kijiji wheel near london is the same one I have on the car. There is no cosmetic issues with mine except a couple small scratches on the trim. I am just looking to upgrade to a thicker nicer wheel. I have a G30 m-sport as a daily and a good thick steering wheel makes quite a difference in the driving experience and feel of the car overall and of course looks better too
I also want to explore the possibility of customizing the existing one. I see a lot of super nice customized re-manufactured wheels on ebay from europe however didn't come across a z4 one just yet. I'd like to keep the original buttons functioning as well. No rush for me to find one, the car will be used strictly during summer/weekends or perhaps some autocross and light track use. So for now its just sitting and looking pretty in the garage. |

If all you are looking for is a bit thicker and different material perhaps wrap it. It is cheap. The quality is decent. I have done 2 steering wheels from Aliexpress. I have attached one of the steering wheels I have done which is a spare M steering wheel I have. I might be willing to sell it, but would be looking for a fair market price.

I actually came across a diy cover like that on ebay as well but didn't give it much thought or attention. Since I am pretty handy, I really don't see any trouble in trying this out. as long as the cover fits well and snug and won't look like something that came out of a horses arse
And yes I am essentially looking to increase the OD of the stock non M wheel and make it feel better. The current "polished" leather look and feel doesn't do it for me. Thanks for your suggestion. |

Found a place where to order a proper cover, hand made, any choice of leather or combination of. They also offer a way to thicken it. Compared to getting a used M wheel I think this is going to be much better in the end. Very reasonable price too. Most likely going to order a shift boot and hand brake handle to match.
In case anybody else interested: https://www.redlinegoods.com/Z4shiftboot.php |
