auto headlights turns on during the day?

Hi I wonder if my sensor is bad. In daylight around noon time (clear day) and my headlights are on when I have it set to auto. Is this normal or a bad sensor on my car?

Silly question but I am curious:, maybe because I haven't had an M before...only the 3.0SI, but when the headlight is on, I get the headlight symbol (green) on in the dash. I know it's obvious to show headlight on, but on my 3.0SI I don't recall a headlight symbol unless I had a bad bulb. Is this normal to have green headlight symbol in the dash when headlamp is on? Sorry for the silliness.

Thanks for the feedback

I see exactly the same behavior on my 3.0Si Coupe. The lights come on randomly, including when on the freeway passing under an underpass.

How and where do you adjust the sensitivity? I love to find out and adjust it...no need to wear out the bulbs needless even if under warranty.

I don't use auto headlights but on my 3.0si the green headlight indicator on the dash means the fog lights are on.

I believe the dealer or shop has to go into the computer to adjust the headlight sensitivity.

Light sensitivity can be adjusted

Using a GT1 and Progman you can adjust the sensitivity. From the factory, it comes set to Sensitive. It can be set to Normal... The green light is normal on your M for the low beams. The eariler non-M cars did not use this function. And of course, there are no fogs on the M.. Hope this helps.. Chuck I

Wow, that program looks cool.

Can you also make it so the car doesn't chime when the parking brake is engaged?

Also so the seat belt reminder doesn't make noise?

Chuck, that program looks pretty cool...is it some sort of a OBDII interface and program you buy or download from the net? Please provide a little more detail about it... I love to adjust my car to my personal settings. Thanks!

Nevermind...quick search and reveals all...cool tool you have Chuck. Wish there was a more cost effective alternative.
