Aluminum Dash Replacement Heeeeelp!!

So i did the 2 front pieces but the center piece is whats killing me. Im trying to use this

as refference but im stuck since i cant seem to take of the compartment part... I dont know what im doing wrong. I dont want to have half wood half aluminum

can anyone pleeeeease point me to another gide with all the pictures or just help me out please
