Two plastic screws at the bottom, and four clips. Two clips on side, two on top. To install you start by placing it lower than the seat then push up into position. The clips willl grab and then install screws.

Correct on the original method of attaching the seat back, however over time the clips and the seat back backing board get loose.
This happened to my 04. I solved the issue by using a couple of chromed washered screws inserted through the seat back into the top of the metal seat frame

Thank you for the advice. I put screws back in the bottom of the seats and repaired the bottom of the seat backs. I had to use Velcro strips to hold the top up. Worked out good. Again thanks.

The back of my passenger seat of my 2003 Z4 2.5i is loose and rattling all the time. I could not follow the instruction you described. Are there screws or bolts that I need to tighten? and where are they located? Many thanks.

Do what Dbarton suggested. Anything else would come loose again after a while.
