Back on topic a bit here,

Yes Id like a plaque for the car, I'd find a place for it,
Even if you kept it with your owners manual,

If anyone can design one I have a friend who's dad owns and runs a Trophy/Engravery store so I could "possibly" get them made,

Im not very good with photoshop or designing things so If someone can do that I'll pass the image to him and see if he can re-create it

Hi

Numbers are for coupes only sold in North America. So even combined we are pretty rare. I have never seen a Z4 coupe on the road since they were released in 2006.

8087 (my 2007).

Lets see, that makes me #707 of 2007, and #1087 since the car launched. That puts me in the middle too...but the middle of a rare car.

Maybe not. LV and LF started together.

LV34039 has 05/2006 production.

LF77039 has 05/2006 production.

I can say with a fair certainty that not one person paid anywhere near $10k over MSRP. In fact, I'd say the majority paid invoice or lower.

I think it's more of the general idea that as a production run continues, the typical bugs/weaknesses are worked out. With that being said, my dad has an '03 Z4 roadster that's running flawlessly.

That's why I say the cars aren't rare, they just weren't popular or sought after. I think those of you that call these car rare, like in collectable, are doing people that are buying one because they think they are rare a dis-service. I think these cars are wonderful sports cars, I love driving my Z, but I don't think they are "rare" in any shape, manner or form. People should buy these cars because they are so enjoyable to drive, and seem to be rather low maintenance.

Please start a new post if you want to discuss merits or nuances of word "rare." Lets get back to my original idea please. Right now I am thinking of the Whalen shift machine with the my number/total production with an M Logo or something. Anyone an artist here?

RealOEM shows LV30000-LV31999 as 3.0si coupes for Europe, too. There's probably more than 2038 total.

Don't mean to be picky - but!

I have one if roughly 40 Imola red 2006 M coupes EVER built so whether they were not able to sell them or not the fact that there are only 40 and they aint making any more makes it "rare" by any standard in automobile manufacturing statistics. Even now 40 is not many and as much as I love the car if I take care of it and keep it for another 20 years you won't see many more of them running around!

4500 on earth isn't many either for total production when you compare - a car that has great records - Corvette - there were over 22,000 1967 corvettes produced, over 6000 1957,

Between 1984 and 89 NIssan produced nearly 300,000 - 300 ZX in the US!

So keep your cars and as rare as they are now - wait 20 years!
