Need new tires

Can anyone recommend me some budget tires for track days?

I currently have a set of evo v12(rears have less than 30%) on my car, and a set of almost new Cooper RS-3S in the garage that came with the car. I ran the last track day with the V12 and I definitely feel like I could use a little more traction/grip. My next event is coming up so I'm exploring different options on what tires to run..

Here are few options I'm considering:

1 Run the crappy cooper RS-3S for next event - No extra expense, but I have no idea how good/bad those tires are.

2 A set of Federal 595 RSR - cheap, around $150 per tire

3 A set of Rs3/Z2/Re11 etc - more expensive ~ $250 per tire

I am planning to run another 5-6 events, and I would like to spend less than $200 per tire if I could. What would you guys recommend? Any other alternative options?

Thanks a lot!

just put on a set of nankangs new semi slick, very nice tyre it seems, proper semi slick with tread wear rating 120 or 180 ( comparable to ad08) , it looks awesome but has all the semi slick traits i.e very noisy, very hard ride and they run very wide to choose sizes wisely, but for the price I'm absolutely blown away by the Ns-2r, used as the control tyre in many race series here in the UK.... and the price point id exactly 45% of what i was paying for pilot sport cup semi slick.... i simply can't afford the high end tyre right now, have spend my money elsewhere BUT... this has been a real eye opening experience, my brand snobbery on tyres has cost me way to much over the years!!

ill post a FULL review after I've got them to the track and heat cycled them.... that will be the real test, this car is heavy and very powerful so really leans on its tyres, only time will tell how they withstand the performance... rest assured they will be tortured. Full, honest and detail review with pics coming soon.

keep an eye out for them, they ARE coming..... id expect better then rs3 performance from these, read many review talking 888 type grip level from the 120 TW version But... i'll believe that when i experience it.... So far i literally have 20 miles on these at most, i need to scrub them in and get some heat into them before i can comment, track session in 3 weeks max.....

For what you want I'd go with the nitto NT0-1 's . They are DOT R's , I've driven with them on and off the track on my Z4M . After the first heat cycle their grip is as good as a fresh set of RS3's but they don't overheat like an rs3 and do not heat cycle out . They will last an intermediate skill driver ~ 6 track days and a good amount of street miles if you rotate them . They have good grip in the wet as long as there is no standing water and they have some tread left . The new Hankook TD is a faster DOT R that wears just as good but it's out of you're price range . So I'd go with the NTO-1 .

Yes, way more grip to be had over the V12. Do yourself a favor and get the grippiest tires you can. The top contenders get a little pricey in our sizes but still not the most expensive tires out there. It's $ well spent IMO. I put on a set of BF Goodrich Rivals and am very happy with them so far.
