The ///M Coupe just became a rarer automobile
Alas, my sweet "Ruby" is no more
As my uncle David often feared, it actually wasn’t some off-track excursion that ended her life prematurely. Instead, it was an elderly (80-something) woman who failed to yield right-of-way and tried to cross an intersection as I was traveling through it. I thought “#!*%@, I’m going to hit her” and then, the next thing I knew, it was all over with and the airbags had already receded. The airbags did their job and, at the time, I had nary a scratch or bruise (in fact, my sunglasses, which I was wearing at the time, weren’t even touched). For as low speed a collision as it was (~40mph) I happened to hit her directly on her driver’s rear wheel which, being a fairly strong part of the old Lincoln she was driving, sufficiently flattened Ruby’s nose. The elder woman was ticketed and the cops all agreed it was her fault. My lease is up in July and I was planning on buying her out since there really isn’t another car made right now with as much soul or character as she had. So I’m not sure what I’ll move into next – I really didn’t plan on having this decision to make.

That sucks! Although it is amazing how well the cabin holds up in these types of wrecks. Time to get a different Z4M I think... although it does suck not keeping the one you have loved the past couple years.
Glad you're okay and she got ticketed. It will make the insurance part much easier.

Can she be saved?
Or is it time for Doc McCoy to grimly announce "She's dead Jim".

Ouch. Glad to hear you're okay. Sucks about the car, but, yeah, at least there's no dispute as to who is at fault.

Sorry to see it, glad your ok. I had an incident in the rain when my coupe was only a year old. I hydroplaned into a semi on the highway (sideways) I basically needed a whole new front end. Long story short they fixed it. It still drives like new. Total cost of repair was about 16k. With depreciation she's mine forever, but I still love her so I don't care
I hope this ends which ever way you want it too. I couldn't think of another car to buy when I thought I might have to make the decision. I believe I'd just buy another one in a different color. |

First, Glad to hear your Okay... She held up well considering the Airbag blew. Just can't believe all of the accidents that are happening this year.
Because of the cars history, all yours, if the damage is cosmetic I would save her; because as you mentioned the numbers on your M Coupes are low. Wonder also if this might lower the buy out price...

That is most unfortunate. Glad you weren't injured. I would guess that is $25,000 in damages and the insurance company will total it.
Do you like the Cayman? |

My fiance has a C4S and while I like the Cayman S, I can't drive a perceived "lesser" vehicle than her . I feel like the only cars that compare in "soul value" are a GT3 or a Ford GT (both of which are sufficiently out of my price range).

Glad that you are O.K. I would agree that the insurance will probably total her, what a shame, beautiful color. It's just like a horse, you have to get another one quickly.

Oh man. My biggest fear while driving is someone smacking my roadster. Glad you are ok. You know there is nothing like the M so I'd be freaking out about now. I would just go buy another.Had my rear ended the third day I had her. I was so ever angry with my fellow man.

Uber-bummer! I'm very glad to see that you're OK. If it can be fixed, I'd fix it only if you intend on keeping it forever. The value of cars that have been in that kind of accident takes quite a hit whether it's made perfect again or not.
...and knee protection airbags FTW!!

great to see you are well, which is all that really matters here. Cars come and go (even M coupes) but there will always be one out there for you.

Holy crap. Second such accident I've read about this week. The other one involved an old lady running a red light as well. Glad you're ok. Best of luck with finding a new car.
